Who This Class is For
New or Experienced Shooters
Shooters who are not comfortable drawing their pistol from a holster, firing and re-holstering
Handgun owners looking to improve safety, accuracy, and confidence when using a holster
This class is pre-requisite training for most HGP Training Solutions pistol courses
What You’ll Learn
Holster Fundamentals: Different types of holsters and their intended use to include concealed carry holsters vs range holsters, Appendix, IWB and OWB holsters
Drawing from a Holster & Re-Holstering: We teach a simple 10-Step Process to establish a proper grip, safely draw from a holster, press pistol sights on target, fire, reset, and safely re-holster the pistol
Safe Progression: We teach a 10-Step Process with unloaded pistols while closely monitoring that you successfully execute each step before moving onto the next. Only after you have properly executed all 10-Steps safely and repeatedly, will we introduce live ammunition.
Verbal Commands: During training, we will practice the 10-Step Draw Process by verbally identifying each step, from Step 1 through Step 10. Students will call out the steps as they perform them.
As training progresses, steps will be combined. For example, when the instructor calls out Step 3, students will execute Steps 1 through 3. When Step 7 is called, students will execute Steps 1 through 7, verbally identifying each step on their own.
Basic Drills: Once we have progressed to drawing from a holster with live ammunition we will introduce basic shooting drills incorporating the draw and re-holstering of your pistol on each drill. Basic shooting drills will be performed from 3, 5, and 7 yards and will involve 1-3 paper targets.
After the Class: This class is designed to build muscle memory through repetition and verbal reinforcement. Mastery of drawing from a holster comes from consistent practice of the 10-Step Process, both during the course and through continued practice afterward.
